21 and Us is a virtual exhibition that embodies the fruitful collaboration between the Photography, Music Technology and Music Performance students at Kerry College of Further Education and Training. This interdisciplinary exhibition is a celebration of the student’s creativity and brings together a multimedia experience of ambient music and photographic vison.
In September 2020 a group of three students came together on a photography course. Their names are Jaanika Kalmet, Margaret Kennedy and Nick Pleavin. From the outset this energetic group fed off each other’s enthusiasm. Eager to learn and willing to put in the effort they pushed each other to produce a stunning portfolio of images that you see in this exhibition. This exhibition highlights their photographic journey, investigating the themes of Portraiture, Nature and Still life. Moreover, the exhibition features the students own artistic views on these themes, branching out into a series of manipulated images that pushed the boundaries of their creativity.
The global Pandemic prevented the students from working in a hands-on practical environment for some of the year. Despite this setback, this did not deter them from producing work of a high quality. What you see in this exhibition not only shows their skills as photographers, but it also highlights their drive, determination, application, and resourcefulness in producing stunning photographs in such unprecedented times.
