Kerry Education and Training Board (Kerry ETB) launched their Strategy Statement 2023-2027 and new brand during a special event held at the Tech Amergin Further Education and Training Centre in Waterville on June 22nd 2023. The strategy sets out the pathway for the organisation’s strategic development for the next five years, aiming to strengthen Kerry ETB’s position as a leader in education and training provision, focused on the highest quality of learning experiences for all learners across the county.
The Strategy Statement 2023-2027 encompasses five key objectives with the overall aim of enhancing the learner experience, reinforcing organisational cohesiveness and achieving excellence in education and training service delivery. The strategy will be monitored and reviewed, ensuring progress is documented and aligns with Kerry ETB’s commitment to maximising educational and training opportunities across the county.
Speaking at the launch event, Jim Finucane, Chairperson of the Board of Kerry ETB, emphasised the significance of the new strategy: “The Strategy Statement 2023-2027 outlines five ambitious strategic goals and related objectives for the next five years to establish Kerry ETB as a leader in education and training provision in the county. This strategy presents numerous opportunities for us to strengthen, expand, and further develop our education and training infrastructure across Co. Kerry.”
Launching the Strategy Statement 2023-2027 and the new brand identity marks an essential milestone for Kerry ETB as it builds on a decade of change, growth and development.
Joining Kerry ETB staff and invited guests at the launch were the ETB’s youngest community national school student and most senior further education and training learner. The 91-year age gap between these two learners demonstrated that the ETB’s provision spans the full lifelong learning journey.
Colm McEvoy, CEO of Kerry ETB, addressed the organisation’s development over the past decade and its future aspirations, “Since our establishment in 2013, Kerry ETB has made good progress in developing the organisation in delivering education and training services across the county. We have experienced much change since our establishment in 2013, and the organisation has adapted very well to the ever-changing environment, including a pandemic in recent years. With this new strategy, we are focused on the continued development, expansion and refinement of our education and training service provision to meet the needs of learners, promoting the development of a lifelong and life-wide society in Co. Kerry. We are looking forward to implementing the strategy provision over the next five years with the focus on striving for excellence in all aspects of our service provision.”
Kerry ETB is a key education and training service provider in Co. Kerry, employing approximately 1260 staff (c.670 part-time and c.590 full-time staff), with c. 3,100 full-time students, and c. 14,000 beneficiaries of further education and training programmes, including apprenticeships in 2022. The organisation’s comprehensive education and training services include three Community National Schools, eight Post-Primary Schools, coordination and administration of youth services, Music Education, and comprehensive further education and training provision, including Kerry College, all supported by corporate support functions of Human Resources, Finance, Capital and Technology.
