Kerry Education and Training Board (Kerry ETB) Celebrates Worldskills Champions

Kerry Education and Training Board (Kerry ETB) Board of Management recently honoured a group of exceptional learners from Kerry College who achieved remarkable success at the Worldskills competition. The meeting became a celebration of talent, dedication, and the unwavering commitment to excellence displayed by these young professionals.

Reflecting on the success, the Director of Further Education and Training Owen O’Donnell, expressed pride in their success saying, “The achievements of our learners at the Worldskills competition are a testament to the dedication and hard work they have put into honing their skills. It is gratifying to see them not only excel individually but also bring recognition to Kerry College on the global stage.”

The Kerry ETB Board warmly welcomed a diverse cohort of accomplished individuals spanning various disciplines, each of whom highlighted extraordinary skills and ability in their respective fields. Among them were learners who had distinguished themselves on the global stage were:
Ciara O’Sullivan, the Silver Medal Winner in Beauty. Alison O’Sullivan, securing the Runner-Up position in Commis Chef. Padraig O’Doherty, the Runner-Up in Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitting. A team of Stonecutting and Stonemasonry enthusiasts included Kieran Finnerty, a Silver Medal Winner, along with Carl Lawrence, Petra O’Flaherty, Robert Cooke, and Sean O’Reilly. Frank Moffit also stood out as an accomplished Plumbing specialist. Clinton Fitzgerald, the adept Broadcast Production specialist worked in the onsite TV studio and ensured smooth recording and streaming of the event that Kerry College setup and ran the TV studio for the duration of the event.

Chairperson of the Kerry ETB Board of Management Jim Finucane added, ” Today we recognise your tremendous achievements from the Worldskills event. The continuation of a vital supply line of qualified craftspeople is essential to support continued economic growth. Apprenticeships provide an excellent route to skills development in Ireland, offering many exciting and reward in career choices.”

The meeting gave an invaluable opportunity for Board members to personally extend their congratulations to these talented learners and express gratitude to their dedicated instructors. The learners’ success at the Worldskills competition not only underscores their individual capabilities but also highlights the exceptional standards of education and training provided in Kerry College.
