The O’Connell FET Centre takes its name from the Liberator, Daniel O’Connell (1775- 1847) who was born close to the site of the centre. The O’Connell FET Centre was established in 1999 as an Adult Education Centre when the Vocational School, Scoil Uí Chonaill was amalgamated with the other Post Primary schools in the area to form Coláiste na Sceilge.
THE O’Connell FET Centre in Caherciveen provides a range of education and training opportunities for adults and young people from non-accredited courses up to QQI Level 6 Major Awards and is aimed at those wishing to return to education, to up-skill or develop new skills. Supporting life-long learning, no matter who you are or where you are on your journey.
There is a wide range of part-time courses through Community Education and courses certified by QQI under BTEI (Back to Education Initiative) such as Horticulture, Healthcare, Special Needs Assisting, Retail Sales, Payroll and Computing qualifications offered at the centre. If you are returning to learning, you are embarking on what will be a rewarding and enjoyable experience. Build your confidence, achieve a qualification, meet new people and improve your employment and progression opportunities.
This project is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union, Employment, Inclusion, Skills and Training Programme 2021-2027
