An apprenticeship is two to four years in duration. It is an earn as you learn programme with staged phases – some in training and minimum 50% on the job learning. Some qualifications lead to an award at Levels 5 to 10 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). Apprentices are recruited by an employer and then registered to SOLAS by an ETB.
