Kerry ETB Mentor Project works with young people aged 15+ on a 1:1 basis and with a youth work approach. Mentoring offers young people the opportunity to engage and develop a strong relationship with their mentor and this dynamic relationship offers support and space to explore all progression options. Through a mentoring process, each young person discovers the most realistic and sustainable progression path for themselves and each progression path is tailored to each individual. Mentoring can take place over a number of weeks or over a period of years. It is young person led and always keeps the young person at the centre of all decision making. The Kerry ETB Mentor Project is a free service and is available to all young people who are:
- early school leavers
- potential early school leavers
- have left school with little or no Leaving Cert
- non-Irish young people who are not in school
- young people who are attending programmes and/or training
- young people who would like help and support deciding what they would like to do next
